Pench National Park, nestling in the lower southern reaches of the Satpura hills
is named after Pench river which flows from north to south through the Pench
National Park. It is located on the southern boundary of Madhya Pradesh.

Conservation
Pench Tiger Reserve was created in 1992, becoming 19th Reserve in the ProjectTiger
network. The core zone of the Reserve, Pench National Park was crated in 1983.This
was carved oyt of the Pench Sanctuary crated in 1977 with an area of 449.39
sq.km.

Bandhavgarh National Park: A wildlife retreat, where history and nature meet,
Bandhavgarh is not too far away from Kanha. Set amidst the Vindhyan ranges,
the Park has a series of ridges running through it. Initially just 105.40 sq.
km. in area, Bandhavgarh with 25 resident tigers, was noted for its high density
tiger population. Today, it has been extended to an area of 437 sq. km.
