Black Leopard Safari Tour in Pench National Park

06 NIGHTS / 07 DAYS

One of India’s many national parks, Pench National Park is located in Madhya Pradesh’s southernmost region. 60% of the National Park’s trees are teak, with the remaining 40% being mixed forest, which includes Garadi, Palash Baheda, Saaj, Jamun, and many more. The National Park first came to public attention thanks to a Tigress named Collarwali, who currently holds the Guinness World Record for having given birth to the most cubs (29) in her lifetime. On January 15, 2022, she passed away at the age of 16 from old age.

One of the rarest melanistic leopards, Black Panther, has recently drawn attention to the park. A male leopard with a completely black appearance lived in the region in 2020, but he could not stay there for long. As a result, he was pushed out of the tourist area and went on to form his own territory.
land that is not in the tourist area. Since June 2022, a female wanders the Teliya and Khursapar region of Pench National Park with a dark appearance. Since a few months ago, there have been virtually daily sightings of the same.

The majority of the Mowgli characters, including the Black Panther as Bagheera, the Sloth Bear as Balu, the Tiger as Sher Khan, the Wolves as the Pack of Akela and Racksha, Kaa as an Indian Rock Python, and many other characters, are still present in this itinerary, which will take you to Mowgli Land. Therefore, let’s explore Mowgli Land.

After a leisurely breakfast in the morning, go for the airport to catch a flight to Nagpur. When you land in Nagpur, our representative/driver will be there to greet you and take you to the Pench National Park. Arrive and check into the hotel. Day 03: In Pench National Park

Jeep safaris to the Teliya zone in the morning and after. We will be exploring more of the Teliya and Khawasa zone because there is where the female’s area is located. Tigers also live in the area and have a territory similar to that of leopards.

Tropical dry deciduous teak and tropical wet deciduous forest coexist on 758 square kilometres of land in southern India. The region is traversed by numerous streams and “nallahs,” the most of which are seasonal. Despite the fact that the Pench River dries up at the end of April, there are several drinking holes, or “dohs,” that serve as a wildlife watering hole. The Pench Reservoir, located in the centre of the park, is the only substantial water supply during the water drought. Spend the night at the Pench lodge.

Day 04 to 05: In Pench National Park

Start your search for the elusive Black Panther early in the morning by going on a vehicle safari around Teliya or Khawasa zone.
The three main types of forests present in the Pench Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh are southern tropical wet deciduous, southern tropical dry deciduous, and southern dry mixed deciduous forests. Pench Tiger Reserve is an outstanding illustration of a Teak (Tectona grandis)-dominated forest with bamboo and other species dispersed throughout, as well as a dense understory of shrubs and open grassy patches. Get back to the lodge after the safari.

After a leisurely lunch, depart once more for the safari. High habitat heterogeneity in the Pench Tiger Reserve supports a wide range of species, including the gaur (Bos gaurus), sambar (Rusa unicolor), chital (Axis axis), wild pig (Sus scrofa), barking deer (Muntiacus vaginalis), four-horned antelope (Tetracerus quadricornis), chinkara (Gazella ben (Canisaureus).
Spend the night in the Pench lodge.

Nature Safari India organized our private 2 Weeks Safari in Central India plus a couple of Sightseeing and we are very happy to having choose this agency. I found them on the responsible tiger tourism association (TOFTigers) and I liked them from the very first contact. From the first email more than two years ago to the end of our trip in April 2022, the service was great, the selection of the itinerary, Parks, lodges and guides was perfect.

Tigers occupy the pinnacle of the food chain and a healthy tiger population is an indicator of the well being of the whole forest. Throughout evolution, predators have had a regulatory influence on the population sizes of other species; it is thanks to carnivores, such as tigers, that the number of herbivores is kept in check. In turn, the populations can therefore only fluctuate between certain limits because of this “feedback mechanism”.

With the number of herbivores under control, but not depleted, the forest vegetation is likely to thrive provided humans do not over exploit it. Seeds will be dispersed by new growth will not be prevented by excessive grazing pressure. Healthy vegetation protects the rainwater and safeguards the water table. Many forest are important catchments areas for rivers, upon which many species, including human beings, depend.

Species at the top of the food chain are generally larger and require more space than other animals, particularly if they are territorial . Conserving such species in the wild protects the habitat of many other animals, as well as safeguarding the essential ecological processes such as water and nutrient cycling. Thus the tiger is the guardian of many other creatures.
